Role

The role of the Harrison County Transportation Authority is to provide and promote transportation at a low cost and maintaining transportation infrastructure across the county.

Rank Structure

The Harrison County Transportation Authority rank structure is comprised of five rank levels:

Operation Oversight (Administrators, County Executive), Department Command (Director, Assistant Director), Division Command (Division Chief), Unit Command (Assistant Division Chief, Head Operator II, Head Operator), and Operators (Senior Operator II, Senior Operator, Operator II, Operator, and Trainee Operator). The ranks Operator II, Senior Operator II, and Assistant Division Chief are all career progression ranks, of which employees ranked Operator, Senior Operator, and Head Operator II will be promoted to respectively after a certain period of time as designated by department policy.

Organizational Structure

The Harrison County Transportation Authority is broken down into three separate divisions: The Transit Division, Highway Division, and Support Division. Within the Transit Division, there are two Transit Units (A & B). These units are in charge of driving buses throughout the county. In the Highway Division, there are two Highway Units (A & B). These units are in charge of responding to calls for roadway assistance and vehicle maintenance calls throughout the county. In the Support Division, there is the Internal Affairs unit and the Public Affairs unit.
