Overview
Harrison County was one of the first forms of civilization established within the Virginia area. It is the oldest territory known in the area and is home to an old fishing culture originating from the colonies who in which began trade with the United Kingdom; Jamestown was its first seat in the County Government; soon after, Kaslo was introduced and stretched some miles inland becoming a small residential town.
History
Long ago, in the annals of history, there was a valiant and steadfast pilgrim captain named James Harrison. Helm of the English ship Discovery, James was a man of resolute faith and an unwavering belief in the promise of new horizons. Inspired by stories of far-off lands, he set sail with his crew and 2 other ships on a perilous voyage across the vastly and unexplored Atlantic Ocean. All seeking a place to establish a haven for those seeking freedom and a fresh start.
James Harrison led his crew through storms and uncharted waters, guided by the stars above and the hope in his heart. After what seemed like an eternity at sea, they spotted land on the distant horizon. Filled with relief and gratitude, the weary travelers disembarked set foot upon a land unknown to them.
The land which they discovered was abundant with lush forests, fertile soil and a river flowing gracefully through it's heart. Seeing the potential and blessings of this new land, Captain James Harrison made a profound decision to establish a settlement. This settlement, to which we now know as Jamestown, would become a testament to the indomitable spirit of pilgrims.
With unwavering determination, they toiled day and night building homes and crafting the foundation of Jamestown. James envisioned a community that would be governed by principles of equality, liberty, and mutual respect for all its inhabitants. He ensured that Jamestown would be a place where people of all backgrounds, races, and beliefs could coexist harmoniously.
Through their perseverance and unity, Jamestown flourished, and the town became a beacon of hope in the wilderness. The settlers, under the wise and just leadership of Captain James Harrison, established a strong bond with the native people. Important Events
The Exchange - Referred to as "The Exchange" by the locals at the time, this was the first time Captain James Harrison made contact with the natives of the land. Exchanging their knowledge and supplies, this moment forever changed the course of the settlement.
